Better healthcare on border

Imphal, Oct. 26: The Manipur Behiang physical health centre on the India-Myanmar border has started functioning as a round-the-clock PHC.

On Friday, led by Ginsuanhau Zou, Singhat MLA, a high-level official team, including Okram Ibomcha director health services-cum-mission director National Health Mission (NHM) Manipur, Lunminthang Haokip deputy commissioner Churachandpur, Samson Sheiro additional director health services Manipur, Thangchinkhup Guite chief medical officer of Churachandpur, Rajiv Irengbam state programme manager NHM, Arun Meitram Unicef consultant and several officials visited the PHCs at Behiang, Singhat and Zezaw under Singhat subdivision of Churachandpur district for improving healthcare services in interior places.

According to Ibomcha, the health department and the state health mission will ensure that required infrastructure, equipment and manpower will be provided to the PHC as the health centre is located at the remotest corner. People from Myanmar also visit the centre for treatment. So there is a potential for medical tourism from the neighbouring country.

Behiang PHC at Indo-Myanmar border to get 24 hour service

IMPHAL, October 26: Health services at Behiang Physical Health Centre, which is under Churachandpur District’s Singhat sub-division located at Indo-Myanmar border, shall be available for 24 hours a day every day of the week according to O Ibomcha, director of State health Services, who is also the Mission Director of National Rural Health Mission, Manipur.  

A high level State officials led by Ginsuanhau Zou, MLA of Singhat, including Lunminthang Haokip, Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Samson Sheiro, Additional director of State Health Services, Thangchinkhup Guite, Chief Medical Officer of Churachandpur, T Hatzaw, EE of Electricity department, Rajiv Irengbam, State Programme Manager of NHM, Arun Meitram, UNICEF Consultant and several other officials visited Behiang PHC on October 24.

During their visit an ultrasound machine, a generator, a water storage tank and medicines were given to the said PHC.

MLA Ginsuanhau, speaking to the media on the sidelines of the visit, said that the 24x7 service to be provided at the Behiang PHC is a good step taken up by the State health Services. 

He ensured that in consultation with the DC of the district and functionaries of other line departments, facilities like tube well and solar power back-up will be provided for smooth functioning of the PHC.

Ibomcha, who also spoke to the media, said that the initiative has been taken up with a view to provide optimum health care services to the people, who are living near the border.

Behiang PHC to run 24×7

IMPHAL, Oct 26, 2014: State Health Services Director Okram Ibomcha, who is also the Mission Director of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Manipur has announced that Primary Health Centre (PHC) Behiang, would run 24×7 soon to provide optimum health care services not only to the people of the border village but also to the citizens of neighbouring Myanmar.

A high level team led by Singhat MLA Ginsuanhau Zou and Health Services Director Okram Ibomcha visited the PHCs of interior villages of Behiang, Singhat and Zezaw under Singhat Sub-Division in Churachandpur district to study the feasibilities of upgrading these medical facilities to centres which run 24×7 on October 24.

Churachandpur Deputy Commissioner Lunminthang Haokip, Health Services Additional Director Samson Sheiro, Power Department Executive Engineer T Hatzaw, Chief Medical Officer, Churachandpur Thangchinkhup Guite, State Programme Manager NRHM Rajiv Irengbam, UNICEF Consultant Arun Meitram and several high ranking officials were also part of the team, which visited these villages located along Indo-Myanmar border.
